BRIAN SMITH
VIDEO PRODUCER | EDITOR | MULTIMEDIA STORYTELLER
I develop and produce stories from the first idea through final delivery. Combining video production, cinematography, interviewing, editing, audio, sound design and colour correction to create content built around the audience and the story. My experience spans documentary, interviews, digital content, radio, podcasts, promotional video and social media storytelling, with hands-on experience managing projects from pre-production through post-production.
BCIT — Radio Arts & Entertainment / Broadcast & Media Communications
My BCIT training provided hands-on experience across broadcasting, audio production, video production, editing, marketing, advertising and digital media. The program gave me the opportunity to develop and produce portfolio projects while working with professional production equipment and workflows. Most importantly, it reinforced the production principle I continue to use today: Start with the story. Build the production around it.

Heritage Abbotsford Society Documentary Series
Bringing Local History to Life.
Documentary Series | Trethewey House Heritage Society
I produced a series of short documentaries exploring the people, places and stories that helped shape Abbotsford’s history. The project required more than editing. It involved research, planning, interview production, cinematography and complete post-production. I researched the stories, coordinated production requirements, conducted and recorded two-camera interviews, and completed the projects through final edit. The work strengthened my ability to take documentary material from research and planning through production and final delivery, while maintaining a clear narrative for the audience.

Short Film – HUNTED
From Storyboard to Final Cut.
Narrative Short | 2–5 Minutes
A short-form narrative production developed from concept through final delivery within a two-week production schedule. The project required me to manage multiple production responsibilities while balancing other deadlines. I developed the visual approach, planned the shots, performed on camera, handled cinematography and completed the entire post-production process. The project demonstrated my ability to work within a defined production schedule while maintaining control over both the creative and technical sides of the production.

Broadcast Experience Meets Digital Storytelling.
Radio • Interview • Audio Production
My broadcast experience includes live radio hosting, interview production and audio editing with Evolution 107.9. For Beyond the Sidelines and other series, I developed and produced interview content designed to engage an audience through conversation and storytelling. I hosted a four-hour live radio program and produced multiple 10-minute interview segments, developing my ability to work under time constraints, communicate clearly with guests and audiences, and deliver clean, engaging audio. The experience continues to influence how I approach video interviews today: good production starts with good conversation.

About Brian
I’m a Fraser Valley-based multimedia producer, editor and storyteller with a background in broadcasting and hands-on experience across video, audio, documentary and interview production. I enjoy the part of production where an idea starts as a conversation and becomes something an audience can actually see and hear. My work has taken me from radio studios and interview rooms to documentary locations and community projects, and I’ve learned to be comfortable both behind the camera and behind the edit. I’m particularly interested in productions involving real people, compelling stories, documentary content, community storytelling and digital media. I’m looking for the opportunity to continue developing those skills while contributing to a professional production team.

HAVE A PRODUCTION IN MIND?
I DON’T JUST EDIT VIDEO. I PRODUCE STORIES. A good video starts before the camera rolls. I bring together story development, research, production planning, camera work, interviewing, audio recording and post-production to turn an idea into a finished piece of content. Whether the project is a documentary, interview, promotional video, social campaign or podcast, I can contribute across the production process—or step into the part of the workflow where the team needs me most.
Whether you’re looking for a production assistant, camera operator, junior producer, video editor, content creator or multimedia storyteller, I’d welcome the opportunity to contribute.
